Repeat converter customers for DGM and also from smaller cities

DGM India has closed deals for 12 machines in the first three days of the 15th Printpack India show. The company sold a number of folder gluers and die-cutters and one hot foil stamping machine to customers from across the length and breadth of India.

Sun Industries from Baddi bought four DGM machines, one Technocut 1050S die cutter with stripping and another Technocut 1050 without stripping. Sun also purchased a Smartfold 1100SL which can process 4 and 6-corner cartons. It has bought another Smartfold 800PC which can process only straight-line and lock-bottom cartons.

Noida-based Lynx Designers bought a hot foil stamping machine and a Smartfold 1100SL. Shree Devi Packaging from Agra purchased a Technocut 1050 die-cutter without stripping and a Technofold 1100PC folder gluer.

“Lynx have been using our die-cutter for the last eight months and were extremely happy with our machine. That is why they have now ordered two more DGM equipment,” said Puneet Agarwal, director of DGM India.

Zaware Creative from Pune bought a Technocut 1050 die-cutter without stripping and a Smartfold 1100SL folder gluer. “Zaware were commercial printers who diversified into packaging in 2016 and are now going for automation,” Agarwal said.

Winpack Ventures from Chennai bought a Technofold 1100AC while Santoshi Enterprises from Noida has also bought a Technofold 1100C. “Many converters from tier 2 and tier 3 cities have bought our machines and this shows that more players in the carton segment in India now want to provide quality cartons to their brand owner customers. We expect to close more deals by the end of the Printpack show,” Agarwal said.

The Covid-19 pandemic led to the country-wide lockdown on 25 March 2020. It will be two years tomorrow as I write this. What have we learned in this time? Maybe the meaning of resilience since small companies like us have had to rely on our resources and the forbearance of our employees as we have struggled to produce our trade platforms.

The print and packaging industries have been fortunate, although the commercial printing industry is still to recover. We have learned more about the digital transformation that affects commercial printing and packaging. Ultimately digital will help print grow in a country where we are still far behind in our paper and print consumption and where digital is a leapfrog technology that will only increase the demand for print in the foreseeable future.

Web analytics show that we now have readership in North America and Europe amongst the 90 countries where our five platforms reach. Our traffic which more than doubled in 2020, has at times gone up by another 50% in 2021. And advertising which had fallen to pieces in 2020 and 2021, has started its return since January 2022.

As the economy approaches real growth with unevenness and shortages a given, we are looking forward to the PrintPack India exhibition in Greater Noida. We are again appointed to produce the Show Daily on all five days of the show from 26 to 30 May 2022.
